Job Description
*Fall River Health Services* is looking for a *Clinic Nurse (RN/LPN)*. In this role you will assist providers with clinical patients by ensuring the exam room is prepared according to professional/organizational standards. preparing patients for exam; provides case management for preventive, acute and chronic care needs of the patients; The clinic nurse performs all aspects of charting, chart prep before and after visit to include documenting patient encounters.
*Schedule:* 40 hours a week with rotating Saturdays
*Responsibilities:*
* Assist providers with the examination and treatment of patients – to include: ensuring examination room is prepared for patient encounter, taking an initial history for the chart, taking and documenting vital signs, making lab and x-ray appointments as needed, and explaining the preparations to the patient. In addition, the Clinic RN/LPN may assist the provider(s) in special procedures including minor surgery as required, removing sutures, cleaning wounds and applying dressings as directed by provider and within scope of practice.
* Carry out provider orders; handling phone calls; notifying patients of lab results; giving allergy shots, immunizations and medications prescribed by provider(s); performing ear irrigations, spirometry, peak flows, nebulizer treatments and assisting with phlebotomy as needed.
* Support Vaccines for Children Program and other immunization programs.
* Provide patient education as directed by provider(s); completing physical forms; making referral arrangements, assisting in the maintenance of patient charts – to include responding/managing the providers’ in-baskets, documenting patient calls and providing follow-up.
* Provide input in the development of and follow department policies, procedures, standards and programs within the guidelines of the facility, standards of the profession,and scope of practice.
* Able to think critically and effectively manage clinic/patient flow.
* Knowledgeable in the triage process, use of clinical judgement, and collaborate with providers.
* Must be flexible, adaptable to change, and prepared to assist/manage emergency situations.
* Ability to interact in a professional manner with patients, family members, co-workers, providers, registration staff, volunteers and visitors.
* Demonstrate understanding and compassion towards patients and maintains confidentiality of all pertinent information to assure patient’s rights are protected.
* Knowledge and physical ability to operate mechanical lifts, telephone equipment, fax machine, copy machine, computer, carts, wheel chairs, positioning devices, mechanical beds, thermometers (digital, glass, tympanic), stethoscope, blood pressure equipment, glucometers, pulse ox meters, oxygen equipment, nebulizer equipment, suction machines, IV equipment, and other patient care equipment as deemed necessary and within scope of practice
*Core Competencies:*
* The Clinic Nurse provides nursing care according to physician’s orders and in conformance with recognized nursing techniques and according to department policy, procedures, standards, and in accordance with South Dakota Nurse Practice Act.
* The Clinic Nurse assesses the patient’s condition and reports any significant changes to the provider.
* Must have the visual and auditory ability to assess patient conditions to administer effective care using standard nurse practices; must have the ability to verbally communicate and problem solve effectively with patients, staff, physicians and families; must have the manual dexterity to perform such functions as administering injections, performing CPR.
* The clinic nurse must have the physical ability to respond in a quick manner and in accordance with the established facility practices regarding unexpected patient safety needs; must have the ability to complete forms with accuracy in paper and electronic form; and may be required to assist with lifting and transferring of patients.
_The average pay is $27.00 - 33.82 an hour depending on experience and license._
*Education/Experience/ Lincensure:*
* Education commensurate with requirements of licensure.
* Must have a current RN or LPN license issued by the South Dakota Board of Nursing.
* Experience working in a clinic setting preferred.
* Experience and knowledge of EPIC preferred.
* Must have or obtain BLS certification within 90 days of employment.
