Are you a compassionate and dedicated mental health professional passionate about supporting individuals and families? We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Counselor to join our dynamic team and provide vital counseling and mental health services to a diverse population, including children, adults, and families, within our outpatient Counseling Services program.
With a trauma-informed approach, you will play a crucial role in conducting comprehensive assessments, developing accurate diagnoses, creating personalized treatment plans, and delivering effective psychotherapy services. You'll thrive in a collaborative team environment, working closely with internal and external service providers to empower clients to achieve their treatment goals.
What You'll Do:
Provide thorough mental health assessments, accurate diagnoses, and tailored treatment plans.
Deliver individual, family, and group counseling to a diverse client base facing a variety of challenges.
Act as an advocate for clients, connecting them with essential resources and referral services.
Maintain meticulous electronic client files and complete administrative tasks efficiently.
Prepare detailed reports for courts, schools, and other community agencies as needed.
Foster positive working relationships with fellow professionals, community agencies, and coalitions.
Commit to ongoing professional development and training in best practices, with a focus on cultural competency.
Participate in regular supervision sessions and monthly staff meetings.
Contribute to case conferences and share clinical expertise with colleagues.
Engage in the agency's Quality Improvement process and other relevant meetings, including in-service trainings, supervisions, and consultations.
Demonstrate sensitivity, fairness, and acceptance of diversity in all interactions.
Show a proactive willingness to learn and implement diversity-related skills.
Utilize Microsoft-based products and electronic health record systems effectively.
Maintain positive and collaborative relationships with program staff and external partners.
Maintain a minimum of 25 hours of direct client contact per week.
What You'll Bring:
A valid NYS Education Department license, or license eligibility, in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, or Marriage and Family Therapy.
Experience in a community-centered mental health setting (preferred).
Demonstrated cultural competence in understanding and working with diverse populations in community-based programs.
A valid NYS driver's license (preferred).
Strong computer literacy, with experience using Electronic Medical Records (preferred).
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
A commitment to supporting the agency's mission, vision, policies, goals, and objectives.
